Contracting Opportunities
We are occasionally in need of competent, dedicated transcriptionists to join our team of independent contractors. Please note that we only hire US-based transcriptionists.
Requirements:
- Above-average knowledge of written English
- Willingness to commit time to learning our style
- Knowledge of or commitment to learning AP Style
(including purchasing the style guide if you don’t already have it) - Consistent availability
- Editing/copywriting experience is very helpful
Compensation
The current base training rate for this position is $40 per audio hour (more for 24- and 6-hour turnarounds). Raises are given as you learn the guidelines and require less editing. The training period may be as short as two weeks or as long as six months, and how quickly your rate increases depends entirely on you.
File info
Audio is primarily one to two speakers and is professionally recorded. "Bad" audio is extremely rare. Most files have 36-hour turnarounds, but the ability to also take 6- and 24-hour turnaround files is a requirement. Our files are normally split into 30-minute or smaller segments, and rush files are always 20 minutes or less.
